Go Green!

This is C's first year playing basketball. It's a 3rd/4th grade team and he's top row, second in from right (black shirt). He gets a few plays in, but mostly runs around breathless and the coach has to tell him if he's going the right way. Occasionally they all run into one another or the ball comes out of someone's hands and they chase the rolling ball across the court. It's a lot of fun to watch :)

California Dreamin'

Exactly 48 hours ago, I was walking on a beach in Carlsbad, CA. It was heavenly - the ocean waves, gulls and fresh air. I attended a Consumer Connectivity conference Monday and Tuesday and once that schtick was over, I was like "get thee to a beach". A short five-minute drive later, there I was. I walked for two hours straight and watched the most beautiful sunset I've ever seen. Aaahhhh.....now I've returned home to 19° and 5½ inches of snow. SWEET!

A Day at the Movies

Big Mama has a post about "Sleepless in Seattle" and it's significance in the Valentine's Day TV rotation. I realize I may be taunting the chick-flick gods but I have to agree with her. The movie is okay but I much prefer the main characters to share substantial screen time where you can feel the relationship build moment by moment. One of the best scenes doesn't even include Meg Ryan - when Tom Hanks' real life wife, Rita Wilson, tearfully explains the movie An Affair to Remember to her screen husband and Tom's character. I have to say I'm 96% with Big Mama on her movie list as well - I disagree on Notting Hill (never got it) and I'd add The Notebook, Pillow Talk, Love Actually, and throw in Rear Window and To Catch a Thief for good measure.

Not Happening

Yeah, that Valentine card idea - not happening. Clearly I did not get my rear in gear on that one. I thought about it enough to look through recent photos to see which ones I might use, only to verify that I am in fact the one mom who leaves her camera behind for momentous occasions such as visits with Santa and a day in Jamaica. I should probably add a camera-related item to my list of New Year's resolutions. I won't even attempt to think I'll get it together in time to send St. Patrick's Day cards. Easter, maybe - depends if it's in March or April. Would it be weird to send Happy 4th of July cards?

Another thing that hasn't happened for me is Facebook. I haven't had the courage to look this up, but I swear everyone I know is talking about it. I just started blogging for pete's sake - it's a bit overwhelming.

How time flies...

This was Sassy Lassy 4 short years ago and below was just 6 months ago. I know I sound like a typical mother, but I much prefer her natural haircolor.

Snow Days - The Dance

Here they are in all their glory. We had three or four hair straighteners going at once, music blaring and girls giggling. I thought the wrist corsage was sweet. Look further down for the ladies' shoe selection.
My camera was acting funky so there's a lot of red eye and obviously the date is inaccurate.

It's too late to send Christmas cards, right?

I got too busy (or lazy, ahem) to send out Christmas cards. Now that it's February it's obviously too late to send New Year's cards. What to do? If I get my rear in gear I could still send Valentine's cards - only 11 days to purchase, write and send. Now that's the better late than never spirit!
